Adding InVision V7 prototype screens to a Freehand document

This article provides answers for InVision V7. If you’re on V6 of InVision, read this article instead. Not sure which version you're using? Find out now.

With InVision V7, there are several ways to quickly create Freehand documents from existing prototype screens.

Create freehand from InVision V7

Currently, you cannot create freehands from Studio prototypes. You can, however, create freehands directly from the Studio desktop application

To create a Freehand from a prototype:

  1. Sign in to your InVision V7 account and navigate to the Documents page.
  2. Open the prototype you want to use as the basis for a Freehand document.
  3. Near the top right of the page, click the ••• (more) icon, and then click Create freehand.

A new Freehand document will appear, pre-loaded with the screens from your prototype.

If you update the prototype and click the Create freehand option again, a new freehand is created. It will not overwrite a previous freehand generated from a prototype. To add to an existing Freehand, you will need to use Craft or Studio.

Create freehand from Craft

If you have installed the Craft plugin for either Sketch or Photoshop, you have access to Craft Freehand which allows you to turn any Photoshop or Sketch file into a Freehand document. To learn more, check out the respective articles:

Create freehand from Studio

If you're using Studio for Mac or Windows, you can create Freehand documents from any Studio file. To learn more, check out this article on publishing to Freehand from Studio.
