Can I add fonts to Studio?

Follow

It's definitely possible to add new fonts for Studio, though you won't add them via the Studio app itself. Instead, you'll need to install new fonts in your system library and ensure that they are enabled for use with apps. The steps for installing fonts differ based on whether you're using a Mac or a Windows device.

Installing fonts on a Mac

To install fonts on your Mac:

  1. Download the font or font family.
  2. In Finder, double-click the font file/s.
  3. In the dialog that opens, click Install Font.
Your Mac will validate the font and open it in Font Book.
  4. In the All Fonts tab of Font Book, ensure the new font is enabled—i.e., it should not appear dimmed or grayed out.

After completing the steps above, close Studio completely. When you re-open Studio and select a text layer, you should see the new font available in the Inspector panel.

Installing fonts on a Windows device

To install fonts on your Windows device:

  1. Download the font or font family, ensuring that each font file extension is either .ttf or .otf.
You will likely receive the font/s as a ZIP file.
  2. Unzip the font folder and double-click each font file.
Each font will open in a new window.
  3. At the top-left corner of each window, click Install or Install for all users.
You should then see the new font/s in your Fonts folder, located here:
Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Fonts

After completing the steps above, close Studio completely. When you re-open Studio and select a text layer, you should see the new font available in the Inspector panel.

Some people have reported the need to close and re-open Studio twice before newly added fonts become available to use.
