Keep your entire team in the loop by pushing InVision prototype updates to Slack.
Before you start
Before you begin, here are a few things to note:
- You must be a Slack administrator to add the plugin from Slack's App Directory.
- Currently, you can't receive notifications for prototypes published via Studio. To receive notifications for a Studio prototype, you'll need to export your screens from Studio and upload them to a new InVision prototype.
- If you installed the plugin from Slack's App Directory, you still need to follow the individual setup instructions for authorizing InVision to send updates to Slack.

Authorizing InVision with Slack
You must authorize each prototype you want to receive Slack notifications for.
To authorize InVision:
- Sign in to your InVision account and navigate to the Documents page.
- Open the desired prototype and, at the top of the page, click the ••• (more) icon.
- Click Slack Configuration, and then click Connect to Slack.
- If you're not signed in, sign in to your Slack workspace.
- In the Post to drop-down, select the desired channel. You can add more channels later.
- Click Authorize.
After InVision has been authorized with Slack, the web page will return to InVision so you can set the activity preferences for this prototype.
Choosing activity preferences
Once you've connected Slack to your prototype, you can adjust the types of activity sent to Slack.
To adjust the activity preferences:
- Open your prototype and, at the top of the page, click the ••• (more) icon.
- Click Slack configuration.
- Check the boxes for the activities you want sent to Slack.
- Click Done.
All of the links sent to Slack will have standard reviewer permissions. Those permissions include:
- Commenting allowed
- All screens viewable
- Anonymous viewing allowed
Changing the Slack channel
To change the Slack channel where prototype activity is posted:
- Open your prototype and, at the top of the page, click the ••• (more) icon.
- Click Slack Configuration.
- In the pop-up modal, click Change Channel.
- If you've previously authorized channels, you will see them here. If not, click Add another channel.
- In the Post to drop-down, select the desired channel and click Authorize.
When authorizing a channel, you cannot authorize private channels that you are not a member of.
Turning updates on or off
You can toggle activity notifications on or off for a specific prototype without disconnecting Slack from InVision.
To toggle activity:
- Open your prototype and, at the top of the page, click the ••• (more) icon.
- Click Slack Configuration.
-
To the right of the channel name, click the toggle. When the toggle is green and right aligned, activity updates will appear Slack.
