Choosing your type of comment
There are two types of comments for InVision V7 prototypes:
- Comments: By default, anyone who can access the document—either as an editor or as a viewer with a public share link—can see or leave regular comments. Many customers use regular comments to communicate with all stakeholders.
- Highlighted comments: If a viewer accesses the prototype via a public share link, any highlighted comments pulsate to stand out from the design itself when viewing screens in Play mode. By highlighting comments, you can establish a navigational guide for anyone viewing the prototype when you're not there to guide them directly.
Highlighted comments are not currently available for Spec documents.
Comments panel
Never miss out on the conversation! The prototype comments panel combines all conversations taking place on that prototype, giving you a bird’s-eye view of all threads for easy access and management. Browse, reply, edit, delete, filter, and resolve comments, all in one place.
To open the comments panel, click the Comments icon filters at the top of the comments panel.
in the right sidebar. You can refine your search using theClick each entry to see each full individual thread, as well as reply, edit, delete, and resolve comments.
Conversations are sorted by recency, with the newest comments appearing first. Unread comments are highlighted in blue so that you always know what requires attention first.
The sidebar and the cards in Comment mode are always in sync, allowing you to go back and forth between both views without losing any context.

Filtering comments
Always find what you need. You can use the filters to see all comments in a document, or to view only unread comments or conversations where you’re mentioned. You can also toggle the visibility of resolved comments.
To fine-tune comment visibility:
- Click the Show me dropdown in the top-right corner of the comments sidebar.
- In the dropdown:
- choose between All comments, Unread comments, or Mentions.
- click the Resolved comments checkmark to display or hide resolved comments.

Commenting via public share links
With the Enable Commenting setting toggled on for a public share link, anyone who receives the link can view and comment on the prototype. Therefore, sharing a public link is a great way to let someone who is not a member or guest of your InVision V7 account collaborate on a prototype.
Please note that it is only possible to @mention users when using the Comment mode in a prototype document link. It is not possible to use the mentioning feature in public share links.
