To ensure you have the flexibility to establish what specific people can do to a document without affecting the document link, you can set document permissions for individuals as well as for the document link itself.
Setting document permissions for an individual
To set document permissions for an individual, open the document and, at the top right, click the Share button. To the right of a listed collaborator, click the drop-down and select the preferred permission setting—Can edit or Can Comment.
The default setting for all individuals is Can edit, so anyone you invite can edit the document unless you change their permissions. The document creator always has full permissions, ensuring that at least one person on your team can edit and manage the document at all times.
