InVision Cloud V7: How do I integrate InVision with Slack?

The InVision Cloud V7 Slack app lets you notify your team of changes to your Cloud V7 prototypes via the Slack workspaces and channels you authorize. To integrate Slack with InVision Cloud V7, install the InVision Cloud V7 Slack app from your avatar menu or from the Slack App Directory.

Connecting InVision Cloud V7 to your Slack workspace

To connect Cloud V7 to your company’s Slack workspace:

  1. Sign in to your Cloud V7 account.
  2. In the top-right corner, click your profile avatar.
  3. In the drop-down at the bottom right of the dialog, click your team name, and then click Integrations.

  4. Navigate to the Slack integration and click View.
  5. In the Slack dialog that opens, click the Connect A Team button and authorize the Slack workspace—and specific channels—you want to connect.
    Note: InVision will not send messages to any Slack channels that you or a teammate haven’t explicitly configured for push notifications. Authorizing channels now simply makes it easier for you to configure notifications for those channels when (and if) you’re ready.

  6. Complete the authorization steps, and then return to Cloud V7 to configure your Slack notifications.

Configuring Slack notifications

To create a new Slack integration and configure notifications for a specific Cloud V7 document:

  1. Sign in to your Cloud V7 account.
  2. In the top-right corner, click your profile avatar.
  3. In the drop-down at the bottom right of the dialog, click your team name, and then click Integrations.

  4. Locate the Slack integration and click View.
  5. Click the pink + button to create a new integration.
    Note: If your team has not yet created a Slack integration, you can click the Create Integration.
  6. On the Add Slack integration screen, hover over the document you want to connect and click Select.
  7. Click the Slack Workspace drop-down arrow and click the workspace you want.
  8. In the Slack Channels text field, start typing the channels where you want to receive notifications, click each one you want to add, and then click the Add button.

The document is now connected to Slack, so any time someone updates a screen or adds a new screen to the document, Cloud V7 will send a notification to the Slack channels you specified.

Editing existing Slack integrations

Add or remove channels

To add or remove channels for an existing Slack integration:

  1. Sign in to your Cloud V7 account.
  2. In the top-right corner, click your profile avatar.
  3. In the drop-down at the bottom right of the dialog, click your team name, and then click Integrations.

  4. Locate the Slack integration and click View.
  5. Hover over the integration you want to re-configure and click the Edit button.
    Note: You can only see integrations for documents you can access in Cloud V7.
  6. Using the Slack Channels field, you can add or remove channels.
  7. Click the Save button.

Pausing or removing an existing integration

To pause or remove an existing integration:

  1. Sign in to your Cloud V7 account.
  2. In the top-right corner, click your profile avatar.
  3. In the drop-down at the bottom right of the dialog, click your team name, and then click Integrations.

  4. Locate the Slack integration and click View.
  5. Hover over the integration you want to re-configure and click the Edit button.
    Note: You can only see integrations for documents you can access in Cloud V7.
  6. Beneath the prototype name, click the Active drop-down.
  7. Click Pause or Remove
    Note: If you click Remove, you cannot undo the action. You will have to recreate the integration.

Authorizing additional Slack channels

If you need to add new channels to your Slack workspace, you can quickly authorize new channels while editing an existing Slack integration.

To authorize new Slack channels while editing an existing integration:

  1. Sign in to your Cloud V7 account.
  2. In the top-right corner, click your profile avatar.
  3. In the drop-down at the bottom right of the dialog, click your team name, and then click Integrations.

  4. Locate the Slack integration and click View.
  5. Hover over the desired integration and click the Edit button.

  6. In the Slack Channels field, begin typing the name of the channel you want to authorize. Click Authorize additional channels, and then select the channels you want to send notifications to.
    Note: The channels you authorize during this step will be added to the existing list of authorized channels; this will not remove channels from the existing list.

  7. A new window will open and you'll be prompted to allow InVision V7 access to your Slack workspace. Click Allow
  8. After you've added the additional channels, click Save.
