How do I comment on a prototype? V6

Collaborate on prototypes by adding comments and emoji. You’ll be able to select different comment types, add more people to the conversation, or keep conversations private.

Adding a comment

To add a comment to a prototype screen:

1. Open your prototype, and then open a specific screen.
2. At the bottom of the page, click the comment mode icon ().
   

   If on a consumer plan, reviewers will need to navigate to the bottom right of the screen to toggle comments on.
   

3. Click anywhere on the screen to leave a comment.
   

If logged out of your InVision account or you do not have an account, InVision will prompt you to sign up or sign in.         

At this time, it’s not possible to add a general comment to the entire prototype; you’ll need to add comments to specific screens instead.

Mentioning someone in your comment

You can notify others of your comment by @ mentioning them.

To mention someone in a comment:

1. Navigate to your prototype screen and click the comment mode icon ().
2. Click an existing comment to open it, or click anywhere on the screen to add a new comment.
3. At the bottom of the comment modal, click Add others?
4. Begin typing the person's name or email address, and click their name in the list.

   If you need to add someone new, enter their full email address.

5. Click Send.

If you are on a Team plan, there is currently not a way to notify only the Team. The @project mention will notify everyone collaborating on the prototype, including those who are not Team plan members. 

Using emoji in your comment

Add emoji to your comments by clicking the emoji icon () within the comment modal.

Comment types

When you leave a comment on a prototype, you can choose between the following comment types:

	To converse with your external users, select the pink Comment. Choosing this comment type makes the comment viewable both within the app and via URL shares.
	A Private Comment is only viewable to you and collaborators (users with an InVision account that you added via the + button on your prototype).
	A Note is a comment type that can only be seen by the prototype owner and collaborators on a prototype. External stakeholders are unable to see these comments. To learn more, check out the article What is a Note?

Reviewers are unable to change comment types. All reviewer comments will be the pink (public) comment type.

Changing comment types

To change the comment type on a new comment:

1. Navigate to your prototype screen and click the comment mode icon ().
2. Click anywhere on the screen to add a new comment.
3. At the top of the comment modal, click the drop-down and select a new comment type.
4. Click Send.

To change the comment type on an existing comment:

1. Navigate to your prototype screen and click the comment mode icon ().
2. Click the existing comment to open it.
3. In the top-right corner of the comment modal, click the ••• (more) icon.
4. Click your desired comment type.

Filtering comment types

To view a particular comment type while in comment mode, navigate to the top-right corner of the page and click the View drop-down.

Selecting Comments will show both pink (public) comments and private comments.

Show resolved comments

To see resolved comments while in comment mode, navigate to the top-right corner of the page and check the box Show Resolved.
