Note: This article refers to syncing files via Google Drive, Dropbox, and Box which is being discontinued. Please see the announcement for more details. We strongly recommend that you start using Craft Sync now. This does not impact InVision Sync or the uploading of Sketch or PSD files to generate screens.
The InVision Sync services allow you to choose and sync files (screens and design files) from wherever you are in your Dropbox, Google Drive, or Box account. This gives you more flexibility and freedom to organize files in your Dropbox, Google Drive, or Box accounts as you see fit. You also have the option of using our own InVision Sync desktop app- learn more about that here.
There are some significant changes in howInVision Sync services system works, notably that changes are only synced one way - from Dropbox, Google Drive, or Box into InVision (in contrast to our old system, which was two-way).
The new method of sync lets you choose a file(s) from anywhere within your preferred cloud account and pull updates into an InVision prototype automatically. This gives you:
- File location freedom: You can now sync a source file from a pre-existing organizational structure that you set-up rather than moving into a prototype folder that InVision defines.
- One-way sync: We don’t push anything back to your cloud account (no assets, screens, etc.). It’s not in any way a “mirror” of your InVision account like our Mac app is.
- A single file or PSD can be synced to multiple prototypes: Because we’re only checking for updates and pulling them into InVision, a single file can update a number of prototypes.
