How do I enable the Freehand integration in Microsoft Teams?

Take creative collaboration to a new level inside Microsoft Teams with Freehand by InVision.

What's Freehand?

Freehand, previously only in Craft, is now a project type in InVision. Freehand lets you rapidly capture feedback throughout the product design process in a real-time, flexible, and collaborative way. You spend less time exporting work into presentable formats, and more time creating meaningful experiences for users in collaboration with your team. Like prototypes and boards, Freehand allows anyone on your team to join, from anywhere, on any device to weigh in on your concepts and designs.

Installation process

To enable the Freehand integration in Microsoft Teams:

  1. Make sure the admin of your Office 365 organization has Allow external apps in Microsoft Teams toggled ON. When enabled, users can add tabs and bots that are available to the Office 365 tenant. Learn more about these settings in the Microsoft Teams support portal.
  2. At the top of your Teams app, click + to add a new tab.
  3. Find the pink Freehand by InVision app inside the Microsoft Teams marketplace.
  4. Accept InVision’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
  5. Click the pink Sign In button and join with your existing InVision account. If you don’t have one yet, click Sign Up to create one.
  6. Select an existing Freehand to be added to a new tab in Microsoft Teams, or create a new one by clicking + New Freehand.
  7. If you selected an existing Freehand, it will appear in a new tab within Teams. A notification will be sent to the corresponding channel.

If you created a new Freehand, give it a name, select the account where it should be saved, then start collaborating in real time.

How the integration works

Once installed, the integration will embed any existing or new Freehand in your Teams channel, attached to a specific conversation. Your team will be notified in the same Conversation channel that the Freehand is attached to.

Everyone in the Teams Conversation will then be able to join the Freehand and collaborate in real time.
