How do I enable the Freehand app in Microsoft Teams?

Follow

With the Freehand by InVision app, you can harness the collaborative power of Freehand directly inside Microsoft Teams.

Be sure that the admin of your Office 365 organization has toggled on the ability to allow external apps in Microsoft Teams. When enabled, users can add tabs and bots that are available to the Office 365 tenant. To learn more, visit the Microsoft Teams help center.

Installing the app for the first time

To enable the Freehand by InVision app in Microsoft Teams:

  1. In the left sidebar of Microsoft Teams, click the Apps icon.
  2. Search for and select the Freehand by InVision app.
  3. Click the Add to a team button.
If you want to add the app to a specific chat only, click the drop-down and select Add to a chat.
  4. Search for a channel where you'd like to add the app and click Set up a tab.

If you're not already, you'll need to sign in to InVision. If you're signed in, a pop-up modal will appear, prompting you to attach a new or existing Freehand.

Adding freehands to channels

Once the app is installed, you can embed any existing or new freehand to a channel. Everyone in the channel will be able to join the freehand and collaborate in real-time.

To add a freehand to a channel:

  1. Open the appropriate Microsoft Teams channel.
  2. At the top of the page, click the + icon.
  3. Click Freehand by InVision.
  4. Choose an existing freehand or click New Freehand.
  5. If you choose a new freehand, enter a name and select an account.
  6. Click Save.

You can now begin creating your freehand.

If using InVision Cloud V6, click Save Draft after creating a new freehand. If you don't, your work won't be saved when you exit the page.

To rename the tab:

  1. Open the appropriate Microsoft Teams channel.
  2. At the top of the page, click the tab associated with the freehand.
  3. Next to the tab name, click the drop-down and select Rename.
  4. Enter a new name and click Save.
