Why can't I link my prototype via InVision for Jira?

When attempting to link a prototype or freehand via the InVision for Jira app, you may encounter an error stating, "Link must be a supported share link."

This error occurs when:
- using a non-share link, such as the link from the browser's address bar
- using a password-protected InVision share link
- linking to a prototype or freehand when the user doesn't have permission to edit issues in that Jira project
Check you're using a proper share link
When attaching prototypes and freehands, you must use a proper share link. You can't use the URL from the browser's address bar.
The steps to create the share link depend on the version of InVision you're using. Find out your version of InVision.
- For freehands, follow these steps to create a share link.
- For prototypes on V7, follow these steps to create a public link.
- For prototypes on V6, follow these steps to create a share link.
Add "Edit issues" permission
For basic permission schemes in Jira, you can resolve the issue by giving a user permission to edit issues.
To give a user permission to edit issues:
- Sign in to Jira and open the Jira project.
- In the left sidebar, click Project settings.
- Scroll down in the left sidebar and click Permissions.
- At the top right corner of the page, click Actions > Edit permissions.
- Under the Issue permissions section, navigate to Edit issues and click Edit.
- Click Show more, and select Single user.
- In the corresponding field, enter the user's name or email address.
- Click Grant.

After you've granted the user the permission to edit issues, they should be able to link InVision prototypes in that Jira project as well as any other Jira projects that use the same permissions scheme.
If you use different permissions schemes for different Jira projects, you may need to repeat the above steps multiple times for each permissions scheme you have.
Use Jira's Permission helper
If the issue isn't resolved after giving the user permission to Edit Issues, there may be more complex permissions that need to be configured. Fortunately, Atlassian provides a tool called the Permission helper for troubleshooting permissions issues.
To use the Permission helper:
- Sign in to Jira as and open the Jira project.
- In the left sidebar, click Project settings.
- Scroll down in the left sidebar and click Permissions.
- In the top-right corner of the page, click Permission helper.
- Enter the user's name and the Jira issue they're having trouble with.
- Set the Permission field to Edit Issues.
- Click Submit.

After you submit, the dialog box will display some details of the project and issue permissions. To view any detected issues, click Show failed conditions.
