Using duplicate Sketch libraries with DSM

In some instances—like when building themes, for example—you may want to upload duplicate Sketch libraries to DSM.

Currently, DSM identifies each Sketch library by its document ID. If multiple Sketch libraries with the same ID are uploaded to a DSM design system, the most recently uploaded Sketch library will overwrite the others.

To ensure that each Sketch library has a unique ID and does not overwrite other libraries in your design system, we recommend duplicating via the File > Duplicate menu in Sketch.

Conversely, if you duplicate a Sketch library via Finder on a Mac, the duplicated Sketch library will retain the same document ID as the original.
